2023 (Xinjiang · Changji) Belt & Road Wine and Spirit Competition Successfully Concluded

On May 22, 2023 (Xinjiang·Changji) Belt & Road Wine and Spirit Competition (BRWSC) came to a successful conclusion. The Competition, with the theme of “Identity·Innovation·Dialogue”, was hosted by the People’s Government of Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, and organized by Industry and Information Technology Bureau and Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, as well as Beijing International Wine & Spirit Exchange. The closing ceremony and award ceremony were held at Changji Guesthouse in Xinjiang.

Leaders of Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture and departments and bureaus of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and representatives of industry associations and Beijing International Wine & Spirit Exchange attended the closing ceremony and award ceremony, along with 2023 BRWSC judges, special guests, as well as representatives of alcohol industry associations of Gansu Province, Hebei Province, Shenzhen City, and Guangzhou City, and those from nearly a hundred award-winning wine makers.

The 2023 BRWSC results were officially announced on May 22! Among 599 wines from China and 480 from BRI-involved countries, the Competition selected a total of 384 award-winning wines, including 35 for Grand Prizes, 140 for Gold Prizes, and 209 for Silver Prizes. The wine region at the northern foothills of Tianshan Mountains won 7 Grand Prizes (20% of the total),14 Gold Prizes (10%), and 33 Silver Prizes (16%).

Grand Prizes are only awarded to outstanding wines in all judging criteria.

Gold Prizes are awarded to higher-than-average wines with a delicate and balanced performance highlighting the inherent qualities.

Silver Prizes are awarded to wines with flawless bodies and limpid textures.

With that, the 2023 BRWSC has officially come to a successful end. This year’s competition has witnessed more high-quality wines from around the world being recognized. As one of China’s premium wine regions, Tianshan Mountains’ northern foothills has once again achieved excellent results.
