Author Grandma Nor’s “Katie and the Troll Queen” is the ultimate children’s book to read and learn from in 2023

Set in Norway, "Katie and the Troll Queen" is a fascinating children's tale that features an amazing adventure while showcasing a positive message of compassion and kindness.

Author Grandma Nor’s "Katie and the Troll Queen," a children's book that doesn't simply entertain kids but also teaches vital moral lessons, is now available in leading digital bookstores globally.

In the book, Katie, the lead character, is asked to go and pick some berries for her mother. Katie then runs into the troll queen her grandmother had warned her about. The troll queen engages her in a singing match, and a troll boy appears to keep score.

"There is a sing-off happening in the forest between Katie and the troll queen. The troll queen lives on a hill in a hollow where she raised her children," says Grandma Nor.

Katie beats troll queen and also learns about why her mom was not able to sing along with Katie, a fun thing they both enjoy very much.

In an interview, Grandma Nor said "Katie and the Troll Queen" comes from Norwegian children's stories that were turned into Western books for general reading.

"I decided to make the children aware that trolls are not evil. They are very, very business-like people. They will play with you, crack jokes with you, but the back side is business," says Grandma Nor.

According to Grandma Nor, trolls rely on animals to send them information. Animals, however, are also very secretive.

"This is why you need to know your animals. As a city dweller, you can't. There is no possible way of doing that. But I grew up in a village of about 500 people. The roads were very, very bad, so I was told to stay home. So my grandmother would tell me stories because I'd be bored," says Grandma Nor.

"So, we, as children in Norway, grew up with trolls, fairies, dragons, the whole thing. Grandmothers spun tales, and I took those tales, and I embellished on them and made them into American children's stories," Grandma Nor added.

After working as a chef for 44 years, Grandma Nor decided to retire. Thinking retirement was boring, she knew she needed something new to hold her interest.

"I was just hanging around the house thinking, 'Oh, this is boring.' I needed something to do because I'm not a sitter. I'm a doer. So I decided to take up a correspondence course in children's literature. I finished that up and wrote two books," Grandma Nor tells the press in an interview.

Grandma Nor’s books were set in her home village in Norway. Her other top-rated tale, "The Magic Stones," was set in the 1930s in Norway.

Both of Grandma Nor 's books have religious themes anchored on the author's belief that children should learn positive values while still young.
