Fearless Businessman with Lung Cancer to Release Book to Allay Fears of Dying

orange county,United States - September 1, 2022 /PressCable/

Les Whitney, a Vistage Chair who leads groups of highly successful business owners and CEOs, announced the release of his book, entitled, Cancer’s Gifts: A Loving Journey Towards the Final Chapter.

Les’ cancer journey inspired the creation of this book. In 2019, he was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer and is still currently battling against death’s door at times for a second chance to live his life again. His story is one of hope, strength and perseverance. His diagnosis did not stop him from living his life doing what he loves doing and with his upcoming book, his mission is to help others achieve their greatness. He wants to publicize his experience as a way to offer hope and encouragement to someone who needs it.

Cancer is a major public health concern in the United States, with many people affected by the disease. According to the statistics by the National Cancer Institute (https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/understanding/statistics), in 2020, an estimated 1,806,590 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and 606,520 people will die from the disease. The rate of new cases of cancer (cancer incidence) is 442.4 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2013-2017 cases). No doubt, cancer afflicts many people and has a significant negative impact on their quality of life.

Les upcoming book, Cancer’s Gifts is all about the author’s fears, frailties, hopes, and sadness. In line with this, he created a website where he shares very specific information about his treatments and conversations with his medical team.

He wants to reach 10,000 through this website with a goal to provide hope or inspiration to just 1% (100) of those people who are on the same feet. He would like his thought-provoking questions to fuel conversations around the fragility of life and how people should live each day.

“I am not afraid of the outcome of my cancer journey. We are going to get the result we are going to get,” Les said in one of his entry posts. “Our results will be a product of who I am today and the choices we make moving forward. I’m looking forward to the day I have tattooed on my ass, “I am a cancer survivor!” he added.

Les won “Rookie of the Year” from Vistage after his first year as a Chair and has been multiple times, the recipient of the “Chair Excellence Award.” Recently, Les was named one of the few Chairs around the world named “Master Chair,” based on his excellent performance with his three groups. Since 2008, Les has also trained other Vistage Chairs throughout the nation, helping them achieve maximum success in their roles.

Prior to joining Vistage, Les Whitney spent 17 years running several successful small-to-mid-market companies. He started an international sales and marketing company selling sporting goods and law enforcement products, and started a manufacturing company building baseball pitching machines. Les was hired as CEO of Pacmayer, Ltd., a successful sporting goods manufacturer; and was the COO of Renaissance Doors and Windows, a premiere door/window manufacturer located in Orange County, California.
