Good morning everyone.

Quick note…Ivanhoff and I are moving ‘Momentum Mondays’ to Monday for the most part so I will be posting them on Tuesday here on this blog. When I am traveling I am sure they will revert back to Sundays for Monday posting on the blog.

Onwards…

I had a great Sunday.

I spent the morning riding north of Los Angeles in the hills and along the Pacific Coast Highway. My friend Roy Rubin hosted Mike Dean and I at his house as the starting point for 53 miles. One of the best parts was a stretch along the pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Roy is a photography and balance whiz and took this video from his bike.

I am back in Coronado this week working.

One topic I was thinking a lot about yesterday as I was riding was a question I get asked all the time by young people…’what is the most important trait for success in life and work’.

I believe it is my curiosity that has always saved me or sent me down meaningful life paths and later in life it has been focusing on the things I am good at (as much as possible) that have led to my happiness, wealth and career fulfillment.

I’m not sure if the ‘youts‘ have heard the proverb ‘curiosity killed the cat‘ but I sure did. Being curious has long had a ‘dangerous’ connotation. Of course there is bad and dangerous curious but as it relates to your career, being curious in the internet era has been and incredibly powerful ally and booster.

If you are good at something, even better. Galloway gives some good advice on that in this short video.

My whole life I have been curious, but it did not mean I took jobs that I was good at or fulfilling.

Young people are too hard on themselves about finding the right first job or career. COVID is going to make these life choices harder as remote work grows. The ‘office’ has changed forever.

As you think about your career and your goals, it is really important to just work. You will no doubt find something you are good at along the way. Good will lead to great if you apply yourself and do the time.
