IntelliTec College in Grand Junction, Colorado is now offering two new Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) Degree programs: the new Healthcare Administration: Medical Assistant AOS Degree program, achievable in 18 months, and the new Healthcare Administration: Medical Billing and Coding Specialist AOS Degree program, also achievable in 18 months.
The new Associate of Occupational Studies Degree programs were developed to add fundamental business skills to the technical education students receive at IntelliTec College for comprehensive career training programs. Similar to IntelliTec’s existing 12-month Medical Billing and Coding Specialist and Medical Assistant certificate programs, the new Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) Degree programs are designed to prepare students with the necessary skills and knowledge for entry level careers in the healthcare field. The AOS Degree programs add an additional 24 weeks of General Education courses, including Introduction to Business, Business Communications, and Critical Thinking. All General Education courses may be completed 100% online.
Students interested in a clinical healthcare career will be served by IntelliTec’s new Healthcare Administration: Medical Assistant AOS Degree program. IntelliTec’s Medical Assistant program teaches students anatomy and physiology of the human body, as well as how to perform medical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing patients for medical procedures. IntelliTec students also learn to perform administrative duties such as appointment scheduling, insurance, and medical practice management. The AOS Degree program is 90.5 credit hours and is achievable in as few as 18 months. Graduates of the program receive their Healthcare Administration: Medical Assistant Associate of Occupational Studies Degree, and are prepared to test for national certifications including the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT) through American Medical Technologists (AMT) and CPR.
Students interested in an administrative healthcare career will be served by IntelliTec’s new Healthcare Administration: Medical Billing and Coding AOS Degree program. IntelliTec’s Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program teaches students medical terminology, comprehensive medical coding and billing procedures, current medical billing software, how to prepare and file insurance claims, how to analyze benefits, how to use Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, and how to adhere to HIPAA laws. The AOS Degree program is 92.5 credit hours and is achievable in as few as 18 months. Graduates of the program receive their Healthcare Administration: Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Associate of Occupational Studies Degree, and are prepared to test for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC-A ) certification, an industry-recognized national certification.
