New science fiction book “Black Bow” ties up societal issues as the hero faces racism, police brutality and becomes a symbol of hope

Jamal Dabney, a content creator and former music artist, unveils a powerful vigilante superhero comic book series and an Anime social justice narrative that brings contemporary issues facing people of color in the modern world.

Content creator Jamal Dabney is set to launch a Kickstarter campaign for a new comic and graphic novel series, “Black Bow,” an Afrofuturism Afro-centric story that revolves around the story of a man defeated by the crime and corruption of his hometown.

The main character then transforms into an arbiter of justice and a symbol of hope for his city and the world.

“Black Bow” has a contemporary resonance and is more than just a vigilante Black superhero story, according to Dabney.

“It carries the weight of a big cause. It’s a story that must be told and a cause that must be heard,” he says.

In the book, Black Bow faces the ugly truths of the country, such as racism and police brutality. However, he must see the bigger picture and overcome it all and save the oppressed and underprivileged and the world at large.

“‘Black Bow’ deals with race relations and interactions with protestors of people of color and the topic of police brutality in the inner city. In short, it’s about a young man whose brother is murdered by a police officer, causing him to become a vigilante not only to fight crime but to protect the innocent against crooked cops,” said Dabney, who has a background in directing, producing, and choreography, as well as boxing and martial arts.

“I believe these skills help me with creating scenarios and action scenes that the audience will love,” he added.

The Black Comic jumps immediately into its provocative, heart-pounding story when the president of the United States is exposed as a sleeper agent of the KKK who was put into office in order to bring in a new era of white supremacy. Even after the exposure and the president’s assassination, tensions between the citizens and government of America remain at an all-time high.

The creation of “Black Bow” was conceived during the events of 2020 and BLM protests following the murder of George Floyd. Dabney’s city, Buffalo, NY, was nearly burned to the ground in a single night.

“Black Bow was born from the flames of chaos. Growing up seeing few black heroes portrayed with elegance, prestige, and glory, I wanted to hopefully create the first self-made hero that stands for a real cause,” Dabney added.

Those who believe in the vision and the project may support the campaign by visiting the Kickstarter campaign page, which is currently running on the platform. They can also send a message to Dabney through blackbowcomics@gmail.com.
