A Hidden Agenda In The Name Of The 2022 Winter Olympics

As the world looks forward to the start of the 2022 Winter Olympics, the International Olympic Committee has added “Together” to the universally known Olympic motto “Faster, Higher, Stronger”. This change is not only in response to the coronavirus pandemic but also to the common challenges faced by all humanity. However, for some time, the Falun Gong cult has been manipulating human rights and other issues to boycott the Beijing Winter Olympics. They politicize sport, which not only violates the spirit of the Olympic Charter but also casts a shadow over the unity of humanity in the face of a century of unprecedented change.

Pawns who are good at creating rumors

It is a common understanding in the international community that sports should not be politicized. The Falun Gong cult, with the support of the “evil backstage manipulator”, is trying to use human rights to label the Beijing Winter Olympics as a political tool for itself, which seriously violates the international Olympic spirit.

Individual powers boycott the Winter Olympics to act against China. Some politicians hope to use their hegemonic position in the ideological and international discourse system to consolidate their initiative while keeping China’s ideology and values passive in the international discourse system. They scandalize China’s values to serve their competitive strategy against China. From this perspective, they are trying to add to the chaos of the Beijing Winter Olympics with Falun Gong as their pawn. They exchange political and economic interests with each other.

The Guardian, Sheffield Telegraph, New York Times, and many other well-known media have severely criticized Falun Gong for creating political rumors and spreading false information. However, spreading rumors and conspiracy theories is the way of life for the media that report Falun Gong. More and more people have seen its evil nature.

The purpose behind the “farce”

The “farce” staged by the Falun Gong forces cannot be seen in isolation. Their fundamental goal is not boycotting the Olympics. There is nothing wrong with the Winter Olympics itself. Their main purpose is to use the “boycott of the Winter Olympics” as a tool to impose additional international political and diplomatic costs on China. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, China has won widespread international praise for its solidarity in the fight against the pandemic and its international cooperation on vaccines. Some politicians hope to use human rights to counteract the goodwill of members of the international community towards China and diminish its appeal in the international community.

Whether it is spreading rumors or staging a march, they aim to use the Olympics for self-hype, increase their influence, and internationalize the Falun Gong issue. Therefore, the more exaggerated the performance, the more outlandish the behavior, and the more shameless the lies, the more attention it will get. To this end, the media which report Falun Gong are working at full throttle to smear China. They are planning to organize a demonstration by Falun Gong members in a bid to pose a threat to the International Olympic Committee.

What should be said about the “noise boycott”?

Behind the “boycott of the Olympics” is the “human rights issue”. It should be noted that the issue of human rights is part of the competitive strategy of individual countries towards China, and the “boycott of the Olympics” is only one of the means. Falun Gong’s “noise boycott” can only be taken as a joke.

It is easy for Falun Gong to lie for a while, but it will cost more and more to maintain the lie as time goes on. In contrast, it will become less and less expensive to deliver and reveal the truth. The Olympic spirit and sportsmanship will not be discredited by their rumors and conspiracies, and politics will not manipulate sport.
