Bodyworker and Coach Aldene Etter Reveals How to Relax With Purpose for Achieving a More Fulfilling Life

On a recent episode of Influencers Radio with Jack Mize, Bodyworker and Coach Aldene Etter discussed how she is helping busy professionals increase their productivity and enjoyment of life by slowing down.

Being an overachiever, over-doer, overthinker, or over-giver can leave a person feeling drained, in pain, tense, overwhelmed, numb, empty, stuck, and resentful.

According to Aldene Etter, the inability to slow down can actually interfere with the ability to be productive. It can also have a detrimental impact on relationships, health, and spiritual growth.

During the interview, when asked why it is that some people just can’t seem to unwind, Aldene explained, “Because it feels unsafe when they slow down. It’s the unknown of who they’re going to be if they’re not going-going-going, doing-doing-doing. For many of us, there’s often a lot of adrenaline and cortisol racing through the body. Then whenever we have the experience of slowing down, it stops. And we don’t feel that great. So there’s the physical part of it that doesn’t feel good if you’ve been going-going-going, and then you stop. And then this sort of the mental-emotional aspect of the unknown. Who you’re going to be if you’re not seeing yourself as the doer, always on the go. And feeling like when we slow down, we start to feel our emotions, but if we’re busy, we’re probably avoiding them. And for many people, feeling emotion is uncomfortable, and it feels unsafe.”

While many people would assume that engaging the services of a Bodyworker would require in-person sessions, Aldene shared how she made the pivot to remote sessions during the pandemic. Allowing her clients to experience the benefits of her techniques from the comfort and safety of their own space, Aldene said, “In these last 18 months, probably 40% of my clientele who pivoted with me are having better experiences with remote sessions than they were with in-person hands-on sessions. One of the main reasons is safety. People feel safer in their own setting, they’re in their own home, many people are choosing to be in their bedrooms, so they’re in a safe location. The door is closed, they have told the family, they’re not available for this period of time, and they don’t have to get up and leave, go out and public after the session. So that is another layer of safety that they’re feeling. I’ve been told that not having the practitioner physically in the room allows them the space to be who they are, and they are feeling less tense and more safe to let the session happen. These are people who have had a lot of bodywork and didn’t realize that level of tension that had been there, that they weren’t aware of until it was removed. So that tension that was in the in-person sessions for some people is no longer there in the remote sessions. It’s been amazing.”

As a Bodyworker and Coach for 20 years, Aldene has been helping people address the pain and drain in the body and create balance so they can experience more energy and focus along with the mental and emotional capacity to navigate life.
