Process Parameters Industrial Infrared Pyrometer Range now Available

Process Parameters talk about their range of industrial infrared pyrometers which are now available for people to purchase from their website

Maidenhead, United Kingdom - October 25, 2021 /PressCable/

The industrial temperature measurement specialists from Process Parameters have today released more information about their range of industrial infrared thermometers, and why people who use infrared thermometers as forehead scanners should avoid these products.

For those who don’t know, an infrared pyrometer is simply a type of device used for measuring temperature from a distance with infrared technology. It is also known as a ‘non-contact’ or ‘laser’ thermometer and it measures both infrared radiation and the emissivity value of the surface it is measuring.

Most infrared pyrometers come equipped with a lens that can focus on surrounding infrared light, it then direct that infrared light through the device and towards a detector, known as a thermocouple. The thermocouple converts the incoming radiation into an electrical signal which then displays as units of temperature on a display. Sounds complicated, doesn’t it? It is, and it all happens in a matter of seconds.

The ongoing pandemic has created an influx of demand for infrared thermometers and some people get confused about which device they should choose, however, Process Parameters made it clear that its range of pyrometers is only fit for industrial purposes and not for checking someone’s body temperature. Here’s why:

Industrial-based IR thermometers are used specifically to measure surface temperatures over an extensive range for an array of different purposes and can vary between -60० to over 500० celsius. This range is a trade-off for accuracy, but industrial devices do not have a satisfactory margin of error (which averages between 1० to 1.5०C) for medical uses. Considering that the difference between well and unwell is only a couple of degrees, an industrial thermometer is an inappropriate tool to use on people.
