New Book Aimed at Breaking the Deadly Silence Around Teen SuicideNew release, Make it a Great Day: The Choice is Yours, benefitting The Teen Suicide Prevention SocietyMake it a Great Day: The Choice is Yours Features Stories from Ten Authors

October 13, 2021 – The Teen Suicide Prevention Society (TSPS) today released the book Make it a Great Day: The Choice is Yours, featuring a remarkable array of contributing authors, each sharing their stories in the hope of creating a miracle – a world where teen suicide is a thing of the past.

When it comes to suicide, silence is deadly. Make It a Great Day, while filled with stories of heartache, is ultimately a book of triumph. Each story is designed to help the reader break the deadly silence that is causing an epidemic of suicide amongst teens. A feature of the book is the  guide to having “The Talk” to stop teen suicide, based on TSPS founder Jackie Simmons’ popular TED talk.

“Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster,” warns Simmons. “This book is not for you to read but rather, this book is for you to share, to break the silence by starting conversations that can save a life.”

“When we started this project we were only thinking about inspiring a generation,” she continues. “By the time we got it done, it became about saving a generation. Suicidal thinking and getting stuck in it, what professionals call “ideation,” is on the rise, especially among teenagers. Breaking this negative echo chamber is what we are determined to do with this book.”

“This book is a red flashing light that reminded me to stop assuming that the children will always be around and to do something that will ensure that they stay around,” notes reader, Elaine Sugar. “It taught me how to check on our children, protect our children, and encourage our children. What a gift in the battle against Teen Suicide!”

Make it a Great Day: The Choice is Yours features stories from ten authors: Jackie Simmons, Becky Scheliga, Cody Dakota Wooten, Danielle Silverman, Denise Thomas, Erin Strayer, Ilene Skeen, Iman Aghay, Jeannette Bridoux and Jessica Peterson. This paperback book is available through Amazon at https://amzn.to/30bA90N.
