A story of a shepherd boy named Ethan who stands his watch just outside of Bethlehem during that special night. The night where an angel appears and announces that a savior is born in Bethlehem. While everyone else is looking for the newborn, Ethan comes across three magi and helps them escape Herods soldiers. In return, the magi give him three large gold coins. The following night, Ethan finds himself assisting a couple, with a baby named Jesus, who are also trying to escape Herods soldiers.
The two encounters stay with Ethan through the years. He has also kept the coins all those times believing they are special. Thirty years later, he witnesses Jesus preach. Ethan starts to believe that only Jesus can unravel the real worth of the coins. He follows him around and goes out of his way to help Peter and John in an attempt to save Jesus from an evil ploy. All throughout this mission, the puzzling purpose of the three coins is revealed and unexpectedly transforms Ethans life.
