Local Business Owners Return From "Destination Bootcamp" With New Tools To Change Business and Attract New Customers

Local business owners return from "Destination BootCamp" with new tools to change business, attract new customers
PLYMOUTH, Ind. - Nov. 22, 2017 - PRLog -- Plymouth's Brian and Lori VanDuyne, owners of Fernbaugh's Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, return this month from a Colorado-based business improvement "Destination BootCamp", where they learned hundreds of new methods to bring more customers and tourists to Plymouth.  The VanDuyne's were among a group of business owners from across North America who attended the two and one-half day, 20-hour workshop.

Brian and Lori from Fernbaugh's Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, is the first Jewelry store from Plymouth Indiana, ever to attend the Destination BootCamp.

Fernbaugh's is a third generation family jeweler and worldwide diamond importer, serving Indiana since 1933, located in historic downtown Plymouth Indiana.  Fernbaugh's Diamonds and Fine Jewelry specializes in helping customers create unique and customized jewelry for family and loved ones.  They travel to Antwerp Belgium , one of the diamond capitals of the world, to hand select diamonds for their store and for individual customers to use for custom design, diamond jewelry and bridal rings.

The two and one-half day "Destination Bootcamp", created by marketing consultant Jon Schallert, teaches independent business owners on how to reposition their businesses as "consumer destinations".  According to Schallert, a business using his "Destination Business" strategies can compete effectively with superstores like Wal-Mart and Home Depot, and significantly impact a local community.  According to Schallert, it is not uncommon for destination businesses to create change in an entire city, by drawing consumers from miles around, from outside the immediate marketplace of a community.

"With the principles we learned at the BootCamp, we will be able to satisfy more of our customers' needs and make purchasing from Fernbaugh's Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, a much more enjoyable, fun experience.  Additionally, we will be attracting more visitors and tourists from outside Plymouth, says Brian VanDuyne.  "With what we've learned, there's no reason we can't attract  multi generational customers from hundreds of miles away."

Established in 1933 by Earl and Geraldine Fernbaugh. The small jewelry repair shop grew into a jewelry store with a repair shop in house. Fernbaugh's moved to its current 416 East Broadway location in downtown Logansport in 1947. Since Earl Fernbaugh's passing, the store was operated by Alvin Scheerer, Florence Sutton, and Oris McGuire. Since 1982, the store has been owned and operated by Oris and Sally McGuire. Their son, Derek, daughter Lori VanDuyne, and son-in-law Brian VanDuyne bought the Logansport location in 2005 and opened a second, stylish Plymouth location at 206 North Michigan Street in February, 2006.

Schallert's Destination Business BootCamp is held in Colorado three times annually.  Schallert has worked with independent business owners since 1983, speaks to thousands every year, and is the President of the Schallert Group, Inc., Longmont, Colorado.  One newspaper call Schallert "the marketing guru rooting for the retail underdogs."  Business owners interested in attending may contact Brian or Lori VanDuyne at 574-936-1577 for more information on their BootCamp experience, or one can visit Schallert's website at www.DestinationBootCamp.com.
