PLAINFIELD, Ind. - March 23, 2016 - PRLog -- The 2016 Ford Explorer is available to Greenwood and Indianapolis drivers at Andy Mohr Ford, with all five trim levels in their new vehicle inventory. This three-row SUV seats as many as eight passengers and has three different engines: a standard V6, turbocharged four-cylinder, and turbocharged V6.
Drivers looking at the base, XLT, and Limited trims will find a 3.5L V6 under the hood, rated at 290 hp and 255 lb.-ft. of torque with 24 mpg/highway. Indiana residents looking for more of a fuel-sipper can upgrade any of these three trims with the 2.3L turbocharged engine with 270 hp, 300 lb.-ft. of torque, and 28 mpg/highway.
The Explorer Sport and Platinum models have a turbocharged 3.5L V6 with 365 hp and 350 lb.-ft. of torque, earning 22 mpg/highway. Both V6 engines are capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds while the four-cylinder maxes out at 3,000 pounds.
Whichever engine is under the hood, the Explorer is set to be one of the most capable SUVs on the market, and the cabin features ensure that everyone stays comfortable and entertained. Standard amenities on the 2016 Explorer Base include Ford SYNC connectivity, a 4.2-inch display screen, Bluetooth phone and audio, a rearview camera, and roof rails.
The four other trims include:
• XLT: This trim adds on body-color exterior accents, rear parking sensors, keyless entry, push-button start, satellite radio, and heated exterior mirrors.
• Limited: The mid-range Explorer Limited features an 8-inch touchscreen display, upgraded Ford SYNC connectivity, leather upholstery, heated front seating, and a 12-speaker Sony stereo system.
• Sport: This model features a sport-tuned suspension and trades out some of the Limited's amenities for different unique exterior and interior details.
• Platinum: This model upgrades the Limited with adaptive cruise control, aluminum and wood interior trim, a dual-panel sunroof, upgraded leather upholstery, and more.
