Toyota C-HR Concept is a Hybrid Crossover in the Making

By: PRLog
Currently on display at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, the Toyota C-HR Concept will soon be a production model.
BURNS HARBOR, Ind. - Sept. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Last year, the C-HR Concept debuted at the 2014 Paris Motor Show as a design study. This year, and pushing toward an eventual release, Toyota has reshaped its previous design study into a more practical model. Its performance efficiency, exterior, and functionality have been updated with consumers in mind, but Toyota’s ultimate goal is to take the C-HR Concept in a separate direction from ubiquitous compact hybrid crossovers.

The C-HR Concept follows the guidelines set by the Toyota New Global Architecture development program, which lays the groundwork for vehicles’ powertrains and performance. The TNGA is intended to improve handling, stability, driver and passenger comfort, and chassis rigidity – all of which Burns Harbor drivers can expect from the production-ready C-HR. In addition, Toyota plans to outfit this new vehicle with an engine that functions with over 40% thermal efficiency. The fuel-efficient hybrid system will also benefit from some changes, including a more compact motor and battery.

Visually speaking, the Toyota C-HR Concept is based off the contours and polished planes of finely-cut gemstones. As a whole, the hybrid crossover’s body has been reformatted to improve aerodynamics, as well as cool-down time. The restyled Concept dons a silky black exterior, bold lower grille, rugged wheels, and swooping sculpting. The previously shown three-door design has been replaced with a more functional five-door format.

Currently, there’s no word as to when drivers can expect the C-HR Concept to make its official debut. However, Toyota plans to make further changes to the vehicle, which they’ll show again in March of 2016 at the Geneva International Motor Show. Toyota hopes the C-HR’s scheduled modifications will bring it closer to a production-ready model.
