PRLog - Jun 25, 2013 - MOBILE, Ala. -- Southeast Toyota Finance associates recently donated their time at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile Family Meal Program, preparing and serving dinner as well as performing light house cleaning. Most families receiving support services from the Ronald McDonald House spend countless days at the hospital with their children, making simple tasks like cooking dinner a burden. The Family Meal Program helps reduce some of the stress endured by the residents and ensures they have home-cooked meals.

“Improving the quality of life in our community is an integral part of who we are,” said Michael Hollis, Vice President of Service Center Operations for Southeast Toyota Finance. “Our associates are dedicated to helping families who are going through a tough time, and we are pleased to continue supporting the Ronald McDonald House.”

Since partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile in 2006, Southeast Toyota Finance has donated $11,500. Additionally, more than 60 associates have volunteered nearly 360 hours at 13 events. At this most recent initiative, 14 volunteers served dinner and enjoyed interacting with 60 guest residents.

Chris Williams, Senior Business Process Engineer for Southeast Toyota Finance, has volunteered at the Family Meal Program for several years because he enjoys giving families an opportunity to come together for a comforting dinner when their lives are otherwise chaotic.

“Being able to serve these families and listen to their stories is extremely rewarding for me,” Williams said. “With all they are going through concerning their loved ones, it’s nice that a small gesture like cooking dinner can bring them a little relief.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile provides a "home away from home" for families so their children can receive treatment for serious and often life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The house accommodates up to 38 families a night who stay for days, weeks and sometimes months at a time while their children receive care.

Since opening their doors 13 years ago, this Ronald McDonald House has served more than 4,000 families from the Gulf Coast area, across the country and around the world. Families are asked to donate $12 a night to stay, but no one is ever turned away for an inability to contribute. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile is a non-profit organization supported by individual, corporate and foundation donations.
