Illustrated Spoof Takes On the Classic SEC "Iron Bowl" Football Rivalry
PRLog - Jul 29, 2013 - BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Sweet Biscuit Productions announces the release of its first illustrated humor book: When Mommy Loves Bama and Daddy Loves Auburn by comedic Hollywood-based actress/writer Deb Hiett, with illustrations by Amy Lynn Stevenson. The softcover, 28-page book is available on Amazon.com now and has a list price of $12.95 (ISBN-13: 978-0-9894352-0-8).

In this richly-illustrated book (great for all ages), a humorous take on the classic college football rivalry between The University of Alabama and Auburn University is presented through the eyes of two young fans eager to navigate the often-turbulent waters known as "The Iron Bowl Day."

Spoofing the vintage style of classic children's books, this hilarious book features old-fashioned, hand-painted illustrations. Definitely not just for kids, When Mommy Loves Bama and Daddy Loves Auburn is for anyone who truly understands the unique challenges of a mixed Crimson Tide/Auburn Tigers household.

Winston Groom, author of Forrest Gump, wrote about the book: "What a delight for kids and parents of split or mixed Bama-Auburn families! At last, a delightful explanation!"

The historic rivalry between the college football teams of The University of Alabama and Auburn University dates back to 1893. When the two teams play each other, the game is known as the "Iron Bowl." And with both schools in close proximity, many families consist of fans from both schools, creating a "house divided," as the family homes are sometimes known.

"Though I live in Los Angeles now, I did grow up in a 'house divided' in Birmingham – both my father and uncle graduated from Auburn, and my mother and aunt and grandfather graduated from Alabama," Deb states. "But my sister and I always had a sense of real connection to both Alabama and Auburn, and we could never understand the bitterness that some fans felt about one team or the other. In our eyes, you were supposed to save that level of antagonism for Notre Dame, for heaven's sake!"

Deb adds, "Maybe it's all the online anonymity, but it seems these days it's easier than ever to just be thoughtlessly mean, even about something as fun as rooting for your favorite college football team. I just wanted to take this serious rivalry and show a sweeter and more comical perspective."
