Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop blasts off with Space Travel Industry luminaries

By: PRLog
PR Log - Feb 02, 2013 - HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- This week, more space scientists, engineers, astronauts, physicists and authors are set to converge at NeXolve Corporation headquarters for scientist & author Les Johnson’s eminent Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop (TVIW).

While just two years old, the Interstellar Workshop has managed to attract some of the brightest stars in the commercial & government space industries.

Scheduled to present at 2013’s Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop are:

- Veteran NASA astronaut & space engineer Jan Davis;
- Author and ‘astronaut teacher’ Mike Mongo;
- Icarus Interstellar president & physicist Richard OBousey.

TVIW founder Les Johnson is a legendary proponent of space travel. As a NASA physicist and researcher, Johnson has provided important contributions to the recently-popularized field of solar sails. He is a recognized international expert in space propulsion as well as a noted science fiction author.

Hot on the heels of last year’s 100 Year Starship in Houston, TVIW’s main focus is likewise the examination and discussion of space travel to another star system.

As a presenter at 100 Year Starship as well as this year’s Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop, author Mike Mongo is excited about the possibilities of an interstellar near-future. “Whenever I speak with students and adults,” says Mongo, author of HUMANNAIRES! Mike Mongo’s Instruction Manual for Pre-Teens, “what I do is explain that the astronaut is soon to be a real career option but that it will mean working and living off-planet. That’s what it means to be a “humannaire”. It’s our next-generation of astronauts—human beings who leave earth to go live and work in outer space.”

Tennessee Valley Interstellar Worshop kicks off February 3rd with an evening reception in Madison. The Workshop runs through Thursday, February 6th.
