Has the American Dream Changed?

By: PRLog
PR Log - Sep 04, 2012 - The American dream is not quite turning out to what it used to be. The American dream used to be to get a good job, raise a family and then retire with enough money in the bank to get you through the golden years. That is not how things are turning out today. Many workers all over the United States are starting to realize that they are not earning enough money. They are working twice as much, and they are bringing home an even smaller paycheck. Jobs are harder to come by, and high paying jobs are almost impossible to find. Students fresh out of college that spent the past four years of their lives studying for their career are facing a harsh reality. Even with a college degree, high paying jobs are becoming difficult to find. This is a trend that is happening all over the United States.

There are many career paths that are underpaid. Teachers are extremely important and a crucial part of the American education system, but they are one of the career paths that are currently not making enough money. The work that teachers do deserves more pay. There are other career paths that are also not paying as well. People are making less money and they are working harder to do it. For some of them, the American dream has become a nightmare that that lasts a lifetime.

Many consumers are borrowing money just to make ends meet. Payday loans  are becoming increasingly popular.

Mark, a representative for http://www.paydday-loans.org has noticed an increase in the amount of people that are looking for payday loans.

“Payday loans are becoming even more popular today than they were just a few short years ago. Consumers are finding it difficult to save money for emergency situations. Payday loans are a blessing to many of these people. Without the benefit of a payday loan they may not be able to put food on the table, repair their vehicles or pay unexpected medical bills.

High paying jobs are becoming difficult to find. Many people have resulted to working two jobs just to make ends meet and sometimes this still is not enough.

Banks do not offer small short term loans to handle emergency expenses. Payday loans were created with emergency financial problems in mind. They allow a consumer to get quick cash until their next paycheck.”

Many people are satisfied with their current jobs even though they may not be making a ton of money. Job satisfaction is often more important than income even for people that work more than one job. There are some jobs that are more underpaid than others. Here are a few examples: security guards, sports coaches, administrative assistants, social workers and real estate agents. These are the same jobs that have a high rate of job satisfaction.

The American dream has changed slightly. It is no longer about making as much money as possible. It is now more about being happy and living within your means.
