Plant-Based Initiative Launches the First Evidence-Based Dietary Guideline

By: PRLog

MIAMI - Sept. 12, 2024 - PRLog -- With all the buzz about plant-based nutrition in the recent years and the need for accurate public health guidance toward more natural and healthful lifestyle choices, the Whole Food, Plant-based Initiative (WFPB.ORG) launches the first ever evidence-based dietary guideline centered in plant-based nutrition.

To provide accurate and evidence-based recommendations for those who want to follow a plant-based diet, the Universal Guideline for Human Health provides advice on how to achieve optimum health as well as what to eat and drink to meet nutrient needs.

"There is so much confusion about food and nutrition. With the addition of synthetic and unhealthful food technologies, it has become more difficult for people to know what is healthful and what is not", explains co-author, naturopath and expert, Margarita Restrepo, "the public's nutrition advice has been led by corporate marketing and we've followed that wave for too long already."

The Universal Guideline for Human Health is an essential resource for individuals, families, communities and anyone seeking to promote health and prevent disease.  The guideline provides detailed guidance focused on preventing diet-related chronic diseases such as heart disease, dementia, obesity, type 2 diabetes, nephritis and cancer through a comprehensive approach to health and wellbeing.

It includes in-depth information on how to follow a Whole Approach to Health and includes the New Health Pyramid, a comprehensive Food List, Foods to Avoid, Plant-Based Substitutions for Common Foods, advice on How to Build a Meal, and how to do Meal Planning.

"Consumers need to make wise and educated decisions about what they put in their bodies as well as their mind and spirit," adds co-author and fitness expert, Michele Nasini. "And it is important to recognize that being healthy is not just about food but about being active, reducing stress, having a support system, and providing the body enough rest so it can reverse and heal any health condition."

Today, taking control of one's health is more important than ever.  Comprehensive approaches that help people embrace simple lifestyle changes to live healthful lives are desperately needed. For the first time, a Guideline designed for public health includes advice on how to perform basic Physical Training, as well as Lifestyle Habits to Improve Sleep, to Reduce Stress and to promote health and wellbeing through the practice of Meditation.

The Universal Guideline is also suitable for health professionals and policymakers as they design and implement health, food and/or nutrition programs that provide information to the general public.

The Universal Guideline is available in print and digital formats in Amazon.com and Amazon Worldwide. For Interviews, comments, and inquiries with the authors please contact contact@wfpb.org. Complimentary copies are available on request.
