Kansas City, Missouri Oct 7, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - The leading construction organization, The Builders announced their new President and it is time to step towards more progress. Lance A. Claiborne has been selected to serve as the new President of the 643-member organization, which is a chapter of the Associated General Contractors. This foundation consists of a 25,000-employee base and Claiborne is going to be the first African American President of the staff team in AGC. Claiborne will be joining The Builders from INTECH Construction in Philadelphia, PA where he has been working as the Director of Diversity Relations. With this new selection of the President, the company is looking forward to bringing a change in their business progress.

Claiborne has served as Director of Industry Relations for the General Building Contractors Association as well as the Zoning Officer/Current Planner for the City of Harrisburg. With his intricate knowledge, he is ready to bring his experience in the construction industry, and expertise in government relations and project management. Being a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a B.A. in Architecture, he has completed his graduation coursework in Urban Design and Public Policy. He was previously selected Association Leading Lobbyist of the Year by Association TRENDS and also became the board member of the PA Legislative Black Caucus Foundation. For his valuable contributions, he became the award recipient of the 2022 City and State PA Construction Power List 75.

Don Greenwell, the previous President who is retiring at the end of 2023, said, "The Builders aspires to improve the lives of people through construction through careers but also the build environment for the community at large, We're very excited about Lance Claiborne...the time for this association for Lance is now. His energy and expertise are exactly what the search committee was looking for." The eight-member national search committee was led by Rob Cleavinger who is also Senior Vice President/Regional Director of Construction Operations for JE Dunn Construction. The immediate past board chair for The Builders/AGC, said, "Everyone on the search committee determined the role and qualities needed in a new president. Lance Claiborne has a very mature executive leadership presence and a nice blend of experience in our industry. As a leader in the construction business, we need to show our membership that diversity, equity, and inclusion are alive and well."

Lance A. Claiborne is also excited about this new role and said, "I'm excited to explore the vibrant communities within The Builder's footprint across the heartland. Our Association boasts strong partnerships in the building industry, and nurturing and expanding these relationships will be key to our success. This is an exciting moment for our industry. While construction has deep roots, there is still room for sustained impact." Associated General Contractors' division, The Builders was founded in 1887 and advances the construction industry by delivering safety, craft, and management training, employment, labor and government relations, and construction plans and technology tools.
