Unique Roguelike Bullet-Hell Shooter Out Now
Nicalis, Inc. officially announces that its latest game, the anime-inspired shooter Ira, is now available on Steam, GOG.com and the Epic Games Store.
Developed by Korean studio ABShot with Nicalis, Ira is a unique character-based shooter with roguelike elements, including procedurally generated levels, random item drops and randomly stocked shops. Players are sent back to the starting point when their health runs out, and all weapons, items and gold are lost. But you do get to keep the fragments of the powerful Ira crystal that you collected, and you can use them to activate permanent upgrades for the Apostles who accompany you. You also unlock more Apostles with different abilities as you progress.
Ira combines the personality and storytelling ability of a third-person shooter with the "bullet hell" patterns of scrolling space shooters. Unlike the high-speed unidirectional action of the latter, though, Ira has your character walking on foot through enemies that can spray projectiles in all directions. With a wide variety of enemy forms and attack types, the screen is often filled with intersecting waves of glowing missiles that are both beautiful and deadly. Boss characters unleash bullets in complex waves that can change direction or even stop moving in midair, forcing you to find new ways to elude their intricate damage patterns.
Ira is available today on Steam, GOG.com and the Epic Games Store for $19.99. The following are links to the individual store pages:
