“When Shepherds Kill”, a Murder Mystery by Black Author James Hammonds Is Based on a Fifty-nine-Year-old Unsolved Murder of a Chicago Alderman

The title “When Shepherds Kill” speaks to the responsibility of leaders such as Vladimir Putin, Catholic Priest, and Police Officers who are sworn to protect their flock. Such individuals often prey upon their people leaving destruction and death in their path. For those who are looking for a new hunt to delve into, Chicago’s west side is such a place where they can let themselves loose for a while and get caught up in the energy and vitality of urban life. Readers can curl up on their couch, open this great book, and be transported to a beautiful city. James Hammonds’ book “When Shepherds Kill”, tells a story of a man who loses his one main ambition, but finds himself.

Hammonds has always been a strong supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement and takes this opportunity to shine a light on the efforts of men and women, blacks and whites who sacrifice their time and lives for the cause of justice throughout the world. In “When Shepherds Kill” Hammonds points out that we live in a world full of atrocities against people of color, but this can be changed by those who are willing to stand up for justice. This book is his launch into the world of murder mysteries while providing much more.

This is the story of a protagonist, Chicago Alderman David Strong who finds his friend and colleague in his aldermanic office. Strong who wants to one day be Mayor seeks to find a way to achieve his goal while seeking to find the killer of his friend and colleague, wherein he encounters street gangs, Russian mobsters, Mexican Cartel members, corrupt politicians, and murderous police officers.

In this amateur detective story, you will find elements of Agatha Christies’ Ms. Marple character. But of course, David Strong is much more active and alive than dear old Ms. Marple.

Those who have read the book say “this timely, exciting book has many twists and turns, and provides non-Chicagoans with a delightful view of the city.”

“When Shepherds Kill” may be purchased at your local bookstores, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and on James’ website, www.jameshammondsauthor.co
