Claire and Craig Travel: A Paralyzed Man and a Girl with no DIY Experience, convert an empty VW Transporter van into Tiny Home on Wheels
Claire and Craig, a couple of travel lovers from the UK, take viewers on an adventure trip to the Arctic Circle in their campervan.

Don't let the world convince you that you can't achieve your dreams. Claire and Craig have always shared two dreams, to travel the world and to experience van life. When a freak accident left Craig paralyzed from the chest down, they realized life was too short not to pursue their dreams!

They were due to backpack the world in 2020, but once they realized Covid would make this impossible for a while, they pursued their other dream of van life. After many months of building their van, they finished self-converting an empty VW transporter T6 van into a tiny home on wheels this year. They moved into the campervan full-time to travel 6000 miles to the Arctic Circle, sharing the amazing views, the tastiest food, and the best adventure experiences the world has to offer on their YouTube channel.

Claire and Craig had wanted to do van life since a campervan holiday in New Zealand in 2015. They saved up and planned to buy their first van in 2019 but in 2018, Craig met with an accident that left him with less than 35% of his body function, and it all seemed impossible.

The real difficulty they faced was getting a van that was suitable for Craig's disability. Initially, they intended to buy a pre-converted van yet no vans were available for their needs.  Instead, they looked at commissioning someone to do the conversion for them, but the long lead times and the expense of professional conversions meant that was also not an option. However, they didn't allow it to stop them, so they decided to try building it themselves. Despite having no previous DIY experience, they successfully converted the van themselves in 6 months.

The couple shared, "Converting the van ourselves was not at all easy, but it has definitely been worth it. Traveling in a van now brings a whole new meaning to the word freedom, it has given us the ability to be spontaneous again. Going through a life-changing experience made us realize that if you want to do things in life, you should prioritize them as you never know how long you'll be able to do these things. For us, that meant traveling as much as possible. We know we already can't experience all of the things we'd like to anymore, so our number one priority is to experience the things we can while we still can."

They are now converting a new, larger van and plan to live in this van full time. Their first goal is to take it to the Alps and then drive up to mainland Europe's northernmost point before shipping it across the Atlantic.
