On December 7, 2005, the Corporation’s wholly-owned subsidiary, United Bank (the “Bank”),
mailed a report of recent events, including the continuing recovery from the effects of Hurricanes
Ivan and Dennis, construction of new branch offices, and Bank financial results for the quarter
ended September 30, 2005, to the Corporation’s shareholders. The full text of the report is set
