Item 8.01. Other Events
On December 5, 2008, Hecla Mining Company (the “Company”) issued a news release announcing that in the interest of cash conversation, the Company was deferring the January 1, 2008, payment of dividends to the holders of the Company’s Series B Cumulative Convertible Preferred Stock and 6.5% Mandatory Convertible Preferred Stock. The news release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 to this Form 8-K.
