On October 29, 2009, The New York Times Company (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing the retirement of P. Steven Ainsley, the publisher of The Boston Globe and a named executive officer of the Company, at the end of the year. A copy of the Company’s press release announcing Mr. Ainsley’s planned retirement is attached as Exhibit 99.1.
