Announcement regarding a resolution on the effective date of the postponed

merger between Shinko Securities Co., Ltd. and Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd.

We hereby announce that, with respect to the previous announcement as of November 14, 2007 on the postponement of the expected effective date of the merger between Shinko Securities Co., Ltd. and Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. to May 7, 2008 , the board of directors of each of the two companies resolved today that the effective date of the merger is to be Wednesday, May 7, 2008, as previously announced.
