Item 8.01 Other Events.
On May 16, 2006, Career Education Corporation (the “Registrant”) issued a press release to announce a final decision by the California Department of Consumer Affairs vacating in its entirety the Notice of Conditional Approval to Operate issued last summer by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Vocational Education to Brooks Institute of Photography. A copy of the Registrant’s press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1, and the information contained therein is incorporated herein by reference.
