This appointment, effective immediately, will continue through December 31, 2025. Ross, a former teacher, mother, and advocate, has long been committed to serving the educational needs of children and families. Since retiring from teaching in 2015, she has been a guardian ad litem for Miami-Dade County, representing children and their families and guiding them through challenging times. Ross' background as a teacher made her acutely aware of the various aspects of family life that impact children's development. She has steadfastly advocated for those without a voice, ensuring their needs and concerns are heard and addressed.

Pursuant to City of Miami Beach Code Section 2-22 (5)a, the term of every board member directly appointed by a member of the City Commission shall automatically expire upon the later of December 31 of the year the appointing City Commissioner leaves office or upon the appointment/election of the successor City Commission member.
