'All My Children' actor Alec Musser dead by suicide: medical examiner

Alec Musser, a former model and an actor on "All My Children," died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner.

New details have emerged about the death of 50-year-old "All My Children" actor Alec Musser.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office has determined that Musser died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, according to a press release. A representative told Fox News Digital the medical examiner ordered a toxicology report but that the results were not available.

According to the release, there were no contributing conditions to Musser's death.

Musser's fiancée, Paige Press, told Fox News Digital on Sunday that the actor had been battling "a severe case of COVID" and that she believed it contributed to his death.

The release from the medical examiner's office says Press last saw Musser on the evening of Jan. 12 when she went to sleep. In the morning, she found Musser "seated and slumped forward on the bathroom floor" and a firearm was near his body.

Both paramedics and law enforcement responded to her 911 call and confirmed the death. Musser's case is not officially closed.

"Alec was a wonderful man. He was the best fiancé, the best dog dad, [a] very [kindhearted] person," Press told Fox News Digital of Musser, to whom she got engaged a little more than a year ago. "Seeing how many messages and people have reached out to me from his childhood. … In the last couple of days, people I’ve never even met [have been] sending me photos [of] him from high school and when he was in [their] wedding. … He was so loved and touched by so many people."

Press said the couple had not chosen a wedding date, but planning was on the horizon.

Actor Adam Sandler, with whom Musser worked on the 2010 film "Grown Ups," shared his condolences with the family.

"I loved this guy," Sandler wrote on his Instagram alongside a frame of Musser in the movie. "Cannot believe he is gone. Such a wonderful, funny good man. Thinking of Alec Musser and his family and sending all my love. A true great sweetheart of a person."

Musser's fiancée said that some kind of memorial service, perhaps on a beach, will take place in the future.
