According to statistics sourced from Outreach Uganda, Uganda school fees were too high for the country’s standard, are overcrowded, understaffed, and lacking in terms of basic resources and supplies:

“Since about 1998, the Ugandan government allows three children from each family to attend primary school while paying only minimal tuition in certain schools, called UPE schools for “universal primary education” in more remote areas. However, none of the children in the Jinja area go to schools, which receive this benefit.”

Michael and Kati of the award-winning adventure blog, Live Fun Travel, wanted to make a difference and created the Uganda Education Fund to present Ugandan children with a more approachable and affordable education.

Through numerous Uganda Charity efforts, Michael and Kati are on a mission to reintroduce sustainable children’s education in the region. 

Michael and Kati, the Uganda Children Fund fundraiser organizers, have traveled to Uganda and were surprised by the lack of educational facilities and professionals to staff them. 

Kati stated that almost all Ugandan schools were closed amid the Covid 19 outbreak, stating that she and Michael wanted to offer Uganda’s children a more affordable education:

“Over the last two years, Uganda schools have been closed because of the pandemic, but they have recently re-opened. Most parents have lost their jobs over the last couple of years and are struggling for food, to work and find jobs, and to educate their children. For $150 to $220, someone can sponsor a Ugandan for their school for the year. We would appreciate any donation and make sure that it is given directly to the child’s school to cover their expenses and make a difference in their lives,” said Michael.
