Medi-Share Employees Give Back this Christmas

By: Get News
Medi-Share celebrated Christmas with their employees a little differently this year, showing that it is truly better to give than to receive! Medi-Share employees donated more than $8,000 to Global Orphan Project, New Life Mission, and Crossfire Ministries as part of their employee celebrations.

Christian Care Ministry/Medi-Share, America’s most trusted healthcare sharing ministry, has more than 700 employees with offices in Melbourne, Florida and Colorado Springs, Colorado and working remotely. This year’s employee celebrations were focused on giving back. The Ministry provided prizes for employees that were raffled off, with all proceeds to be donated to The Global Orphan Project, one of Medi-Share’s Outreach partners.

Medi-Share employees raised $6,960 for The Global Orphan Project through this raffle. The Global Orphan Project exists to break the orphan cycle through the power of community, commerce and the love of Jesus. Setting traditional institutional orphan care models aside, they connect a global family united by a shared vision to care for children and vulnerable families.

In addition to the raffle, instead of decorating departments as had been the tradition, this year employees decorated Christmas trees to donate to families in need through New Life Mission and Crossfire Ministries. New Life Mission in Brevard County, FL equips homeless moms through education, accountability, and goal advancement, empowering them to become self-sufficient and break the cycle of homelessness. Crossfire Ministries is a Christian faith-based, non-profit organization in Colorado Springs that seeks to put God’s love into action, by furnishing the necessities of daily living to those in need.

The ministry provided 4-foot pre-lit trees to each department, and employees provided the decorations. More than just bulbs and tinsel, employees creatively found ways to give more, with one tree using dollar bills for garland and another decorated with gift cards as decorations. Many teams also filled the bottom of their trees with gifts. The tree donations including all the gift cards and cash totaled more than $2000.

Karem Sapp, New Life Mission’s volunteer coordinator and Stacia Glavas, CEO and Founder, attended Christian Care Ministry’s Employee Chapel last week to share about the impact the trees made. Karem shared that two brothers from their program where helping to decorate their church with Christmas decorations. They mentioned to their pastor that they had not had a Christmas tree and wanted one for their home. Karem was able to share with joy that Christian Care Ministry was providing a tree and all the decorations they would need to make their Christmas wish come true.

One of the moms in the program stated, “We are so grateful for the beautiful tree. It was obvious to us that whomever planned this put a lot of love into it. We will treasure it.”

“As a healthcare sharing ministry, sharing is part of our DNA. Our employees have always given generously of their time and resources, but the care and thought they put into this year’s giving was unparalleled. There is no better way to celebrate the gift of Jesus this season, then to give to others,” says Evelio Silvera, Vice President of Communications and Government Affairs.
