Zane Wylie Skulls, a family-run business that creates customized skull art, has launched a new skull design themed after the Krampus figure of Alpine folklore. Each piece of skull art from the artist is carved on a replica of a real human skull. Due to increased interest in the products after having been showcased in a number of TV shows, some of the items may have limited production.

The recently launched Krampus skull features a large set of curving horns hung with sleigh bells, and replicas of boars tusks to serve as fangs. The entire skull is carved with designs fitting the overall theme, and the skull is designed for easy hanging from a wall or Christmas decoration.

The origins of the Krampus legend are not entirely clear, but it has been theorized that they date back to the pre-Christian era of the Alpine area. In most representations that are surviving to the present day, the Krampus is a roughly human-shaped figure with the horns and cloven hooves of a goat, thick fur, and claws.

Unlike other Christmas time figures, the Krampus does not reward children. Instead, the Krampus scares children who misbehave, some believe this is meant to be a way of assisting Saint Nicholas. The Krampus is thought to beat naughty children with birch branches, and sometimes to kidnap them in large sacks for later devouring.

Until recently the Krampus was a little-known figure in the Western world, though in many countries throughout Europe there have been Krampus traditions consistently followed since at least as far back as the 16th century. One such event is the Krampuslauf, which translates to the Krampus Run, where a parade of people in Krampus costumes attempt to scare the attending children with their antics.

Zane Wylie Skulls are also available in a wide range of other designs and have been featured in a number of high-quality TV productions. The company’s website features a preview of some of the TV shows which have featured their products, as well as a video that shows the process used to create the skulls.

A satisfied client said, “Amazing service and product. He contacted me to let me know about the shipping time. Told him it was a gift and he made sure it was there in time. One of the best products I’ve ordered as well. I will be ordering more reproduction skulls in the future for sure. Couldn’t be happier.”
