Explore Vivid: DJI Releases The New Mavic 3 Classic

DJI just released its latest drone in the Mavic series, an updated version of the Mavic 3 called the DJI Mavic 3 Classic. With an improved camera system and cutting-edge technology, the DJI Mavic 3 Classic is an excellent new addition to the Mavic series. It uses the powerful Hasselblad L2D-20c camera to capture incredible natural colors. The safety features are paramount, ensuring the drone never runs into trouble during flight. With intelligent features and versatile accessories, the Mavic 3 Classic is one of DJI’s best drones yet.

4/3 CMOS Hasselblad Camera

Unlike the dual-camera setup of the DJI Mavic 3, the Mavic 3 Classic includes a single Hasselblad camera system. Hasselblad, the iconic Swedish camera company, designed and built the L2D-20c aerial camera specifically for the Mavic 3 series. This camera includes a professional-grade 4/3 CMOS in a compact space, keeping the drone as small and lightweight as possible. Like all Hasselblad cameras, the Mavic 3 Classic Hasselblad camera is designed with rigorous standards to ensure superior imaging quality at all times.

Thanks to its larger image sensor, the Mavic 3 Classic is able to shoot 20 MP photos with a better dynamic range and resolution. It’s also able to successfully suppress noise in dim lighting, giving you high-quality shots that are clean and grain-free no matter what the lighting quality of your environment. With a 12.8-stop dynamic range, you’ll get greater clarity in highlights and shadows, improving the quality of your shots. This allows the highlights to naturally blend into shadows, preserving the fine visual details while imbuing the images with greater depth.

The Hasselblad camera also has an adjustable aperture of f/2.8-f/11, which help you adjust even better to a variety of lighting situations. With a focal length of 24mm, 12-bit RAW image color depth, and the use of Vision Detection Auto Focus (VDAF) technology, you’ll be sure to capture professional photos with the clearest of details.

Hasselblad Natural Color Solution

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic is able to capture natural colors in Hasselblad’s signature way thanks to the use of Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HCNS). The sensor is embedded with HCNS to ensure vivid, natural colors in all of your shots. Whether you’re shooting a picturesque landscape or the glow of an evening sunset, you can capture natural color without worrying about editing or color presets.

Professional Imaging

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic includes plenty of professional imaging features that help you record higher-quality footage on a professional level. With these intelligent features, you’ll record stunning footage without having to edit everything in post.

Record Sharper Details

The Mavic Classic 3 can record 5.1K HD video at 50 fps, giving you cinematic-quality video of the most stunning landscapes. It also uses supersampling technology that enables the recording of 4K HD video at 60 fps, ensuring the high resolution quality of your video. You can also create HD slow-motion videos thanks to the high resolution and high frame rate of 4K/120fps. Shoot movie-like slow-motion videos of a sweeping landscape shot to show off gorgeous mountain ranges or other picturesque ridges.

10-bit D-log

This delivers natural color gradations with even greater highlight and shadow details. By retaining these details in the shot, you have greater flexibility when editing to obtain the shot you’re looking for.

HLG

In addition to D-log, the Mavic 3 Classic comes with HLG, an instant HDR profile that records in a saturated look with the metadata for HDR. This provides a higher dynamic range perfect for a wide variety of devices, giving you footage that doesn’t need color tuning in post.

Night Shots

The Mavic Classic 3 camera also comes with Night Shots, a video mode that optimizes footage in low-light scenarios such as sunsets or sunrises. Whether you’re shooting at dusk, dawn, or during cloudy weather, Night Shots will reduce noise to make sure your shots are as clean as possible.

Superior Flight Time

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic blows most other drones out of the water with its extended flight time, allowing for more time to search for that perfect shot. The drone is compatible with Mavic 3-Series batteries, which gives you 40 minutes of hovering time and a staggering 46 minutes of flight time.

The Mavic 3 Classic also has wind resistance 50% higher than that of its predecessor, ensuring that nothing slows you down on your flight. No matter what your mission, you’ll spend more time creating and less time worrying about running out of juice.

Advanced Video Transmission

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic uses O3+, which gives the drone a transmission distance of up to 15 km. You can fly farther and more stably with greater peace of mind while you view the 1080p/60fps live feed. This camera view will show you specifications quite close to what the camera actually records, giving you a greater idea of what the finished product will look like. The advanced video transmission is also more responsive to your control, ensuring that you never lose sight or control of the drone throughout the flight no matter how far you fly.

Excellent Safety Features

Like all DJI drones, the Mavic 3 Classic comes with several safety features that keep your flight as simple and safe as possible.

Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing

The Mavic 3 Classic uses APAS 5.0 to continually sense objects in all directions, bypassing them quickly and smoothly every time. A number of wide-angle vision sensors and an effective vision computation engine work together to precisely detect objects in all directions and create safe flights around them. Even if you’re new to the world of piloting DJI drones, you can fly confidently and safely, creating smooth footage in the most complicated of scenarios. The obstacle sensing system includes a horizontal omnidirectional vision system, downward vision system, and upward vision system to identify objects in literally any direction.

Extreme Precision

Many times, the perfect shot will require you to hover in one place for long periods of time. With decimeter-level high-precision positioning, the Mavic 3 Classic will keep stable the entire time while hovering. This helps you nab clearer long-exposure shots and record smooth timelapse videos without having to worry about shaky footage.

Advanced RTH

The Advanced RTH feature is valuable for both safety and convenience. Most DJI drones come with some form of return-to-home technology, but this updated auto-return function is more advanced than ever. It allows the Mavic 3 Classic to automatically determine the optimal route back to its home point and execute it as quickly as possible. When launched, the drone will fly to a designated altitude and find a safe and efficient route back to its home point. This RTH feature combines the advantages of Advanced RTH and Traditional RTH, allowing you to choose the best option based on your environment.

Cruise Control

It can be tiring to have to continually press the control sticks in one direction when making a long-distance flight. With Cruise Control, you can make the Mavic 3 Classic fly in any direction you want without effort. This not only aids you in making long-distance flights, but also helps you reduce shaking during manual control to keep the camera movement as smooth as possible.

Intelligent Features

New and advanced pilots alike can find something to enjoy in the many intelligent features of the Mavic 3 Classic. You can use these useful features to enable intuitive creation, focusing on filming instead of worrying about flying.

ActiveTrack 5.0

ActiveTrack 5.0 is the latest iteration of ActiveTrack technology, allowing you to track a subject from different directions with the tap of a button. This allows you to keep subjects in the shot without having to manually follow them with the camera.

MasterShots

MasterShots is an automated shooting and editing process that helps you create cinematic footage. Choose from a number of settings to create professional-level videos that could have come straight from the big screen.

QuickShots

QuickShots is the favorite of many beginner pilots looking to shoot social media-ready videos to wow their friends and family. Select one of the preset camera movements to automatically send the drone flying in a fabulous movement, recording cinematic footage as it goes. You can choose from movements like Dronie, Rocket, Circle, and Helix to take creative selfies and landscape videos that can go straight on your social media platform for everyone to see.

Hyperlapse

The Hyperlapse function gives you the ability to capture stunning footage over a long period of time. This function records one shot for an uninterrupted period, then speeds up the footage to accelerate the passing of time. You can show the clouds pass, traffic moving through the city, or the stars in the night sky move in a picturesque manner.

Panorama

If you’re in a landscape where the beauty is too much to miss even an inch of it, then panorama is the setting for you. Panorama allows you to capture larger, more detailed shots of your surroundings to take advantage of the natural beauty of the landscape.

High-Speed QuickTransfer

Transferring photos out of the drone should be a quick process. With high-speed QuickTransfer you can transfer the photos and videos much more quickly to a smartphone, beginning the editing and sharing process as quickly as possible.

Powerful Accessories

There are plenty of optional accessories you can pair with the DJI Mavic 3 Classic to get the most out of this versatile drone.

DJI Mavic 3 Classic ND Filters Set

This set includes ND8/16/32/64 filters, which can be used to adjust the camera to film in a variety of different lighting situations. If you want to improve the quality of the footage even more in low-light scenarios, then the ND filters set is exactly what you need.

DJI Mavic 3 Classic Wide-Angle Lens

This wide-angle lens is compatible with the Mavic 3 Classic’s Hasselblad camera, delivering a 108° ultra-wide-angle view to capture more in every frame. This accessory is perfect for landscape shots and other wide-angle photos to take advantage of stunning views.

DJI 65W Portable Charger

This charger comes with a 65W USB-C cable to charge the Mavic 3 Classic’s battery on the go. It also comes with another USB-A port and USB-C data cable that can charge the remote controller at the same time. If you’re looking to do a lot of filming on the go, then the portable charger can help you keep the drone fully charged and in the sky as much as possible.

DJI Mavic 3 Battery Charging Hub

The Battery Charging Hub allows you to charge three batteries at once using either a car charger or the 65W portable charger. This allows you to make sure the drone never goes without a fully-charged battery. It also enhances efficiency by charging batteries in the sequence according to their remaining power level, beginning with the batteries with the most charge and descending from there.

DJI RC Pro

This remote controller has a 1000-nit display, high-performance processor, and the support of 15km video transmission. It’s the utmost in professional creation, giving you a remote control that will make the drone feel like an extension of yourself.

DJI RC

The DJI RC is another good remote controller that has a lightweight body, HD display, and ultra-long battery life. It supports DJI O3+ video transmission technology, making it an excellent pairing with the Mavic 3 Classic.

DJI Mavic 3 Classic: Is It Right For You?

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic is priced at $2,029 CAD or $1,599 USD. The package comes with the aircraft, a DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller, a 65W Portable Charger, and all the necessary cables and parts. Its powerful camera and versatile features make it well worth the money for professional and amatuer photographers and videographers. While it lacks the zoom telephoto camera of the regular Mavic 3, it is a valuable addition to the Mavic series that is sure to delight any user.
