Executive Producer Tomeka B Holyfield Succeeds in Male-Dominated Field; Kicked Off NBA All-Star Weekend with 16th All-Star Gospel Celebration and Concert

Salt Lake City, UT, United States - 02-22-2023 (PR Distribution™) -

Honorees included Utah Jazz shooting guard and point guard Collin Sexton, Utah Jazz sports announcer/former NBA Player Thurl Bailey, NBA associate head coach Johnnie Bryant, former NBA player Ronnie Price, NFL Sports Analyst Steve Smith Sr, and more!

Executive Producer Tomeka B Holyfield successfully kicked off NBA All-Star Weekend in a male-dominated field with the 16th All-Star Gospel Celebration (ASGC) and Concert in Salt Lake City, Utah Thursday, February 16th paying tribute to high-profile individuals, game-changers in the sports industry, and community leaders who effect change in the lives of others.

For 16 years, a Female-Black-Owned Production Company has produced All-Star Gospel Celebration during a male-dominated sports weekend.

“As a Black woman in a male-dominated field, I’ve had my share of dealing with micro-aggressions, stigmatizing assumptions, and a lack of respect,” said the trailblazer whose success has demonstrated that nothing is insurmountable.

With hard work and tenacity, Holyfield established ASGC as the official inspirational event during NBA All-Star Weekend.

This year’s “Slam Dunk” award honorees included Utah Jazz player Collin Sexton, Utah Jazz Sports Announcer/Former NBA Player Thurl Bailey, Tesla Executive/Community Leader Carlyon Hayden-Garner, Utah’s own NBA Coach Johnnie Bryant, former NBA player Ronnie Price, and NFL Sports Analyst Steve Smith, Sr.

Her vision for ASGC was to merge the Christian and sports communities during the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities to Glorify God amidst the Glitz, Glamour, and Games kicking off NBA All-Star Weekend. In 16 years she has not disappointed. The event has gained such notoriety that this year it brought out surprise special guests including political activist, Reverend Jesse Jackson and Cleveland Cavaliers guard, and 2023 NBA All-Star Player, Donovan Mitchell.

Holyfield’s consistency and professionalism have afforded her to bring back loyal hosts year after year. Three-time NBA All-Star host Jacinda Jacobs, NBA veteran and former National Basketball Players Association Vice-President Maurice “Mo” Evans, and National Basketball Wives Association Committee Chair, Dru Evans, the red-carpet host stand behind Holyfield wholeheartedly.

ASGC also recognized NBA Chaplains for their relentless faith and their continued support and prayers for NBA players and brought together members of the NBA Chaplain’s Association, NBA Wives Association, NBA players, their families, and local fans in one arena for one night of inspirational praise and philanthropy.

Utah Jazz NBA Chaplain Pastor Corey Hodges, who also received an award, opened his doors as the venue host and welcomed performances by Grammy® award nominated Zacardi Cortez, inspirational singer, writer, and producer, Anthony Hall, and Christian rap artists Antwoine Hill and Emcee N.I.C.E.

The event also raised funds to benefit domestic violence victims, underprivileged children, breast cancer awareness, and help fight sickle cell through the “BE THE MATCH” movement through The HELPPPPing Hands Foundation. 501 (c) 3.
