Denver Mercury-Free Fillings & SMART Removal: Holistic Dentist Treatments Update

As more governments are phasing out dental amalgam fillings, Denver Dentistry (303-988-6118) has updated its holistic treatments, recently announcing mercury-free alternatives and the removal of old fillings using the SMART protocol.

The Littleton-based holistic clinic Denver Dentistry is pleased to offer mercury-free fillings and integrative dental care. The team also performs metals and biocompatibility testing and customizes treatment based on each patient’s particular dental health situation and needs.

According to FDA guidelines, certain risk groups like women who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or nursing; children under 6; and people with certain pre-existing conditions should completely avoid amalgam fillings. Those risk groups listed account for 60% of the American population, and even the other 40% can still have negative effects from mercury fillings, especially older ones. Denver Dentistry offers advanced testing, safe removal, and bio-safe materials, giving access to a better alternative.

"Our highly trained team practices functional dentistry from a holistic standpoint, carefully analyzing your system as a whole instead of a collection of different body parts," a company spokesperson said.

As of the 1st of January 2025, amalgam fillings will be banned in EU countries. The regulations state that mercury is both an environmental concern and that it has "significant negative effects on human health" and can be passed on from mothers to babies during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In the Philippines, the phase-out of mercury fillings began in 2020, and as of May 2023, the material is banned completely.

Denver Dentistry uses the Mercury Tri-Test and MELISA (Memory Lymphocyte Immunostimulation Assay) to identify factors like metal allergies and one’s body burden of mercury. Founder and head dentist Dr. Guy Grabiak develops a personalized treatment plan for each patient he sees to help them achieve their health goals.

"Having this detailed understanding allows us to create customized treatment plans that factor in every aspect of their individual biology and needs," the company spokesperson said.

The clinic offers tooth-colored, BPA-free fillings, whether completely new or healthier alternatives to old ones. To ensure safety for patients during the removal of mercury fillings - as well as that of the staff and the environment - the clinic employs the SMART (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) protocol developed by the International Association of Mercury-Safe Dentists.
