Washington, D.C, District of Columbia Mar 27, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - In an effort to further the efforts for peace and recognize the leaders working for a brighter future HWPL - a peace focused international NGO - held its 7th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) is a tool for global peacebuilding and its principles are adopted in politics, legislation, religion, education, and media. Peace projects and policies have been established in national constitutions across the world.

At the recent event in Washington, D.C., VIPs from around the world shared cases of conflict prevention, mediation, and resolution to institutionalize peace as a universal culture and norm according to the DPCW. Guest speakers Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Congresswoman Sheila Lee, and Former US Congressman and President of Ukraine Focus, Brock Bierman shared their desire for peace and support for the DPCW in the hopes of attaining a world free of conflict.

President Bierman stated: "I'd just like to take this opportunity to specifically thank Chairman Lee and the heavenly culture, world peace restoration of light, and also congratulate them on the seventh anniversary of the Declaration of Peace and the Cessation of War. This is an incredible milestone."

During the event, action plans to advocate peace were prepared to supplement the work already being done by HWPL and its partners on the ground in Ukraine. Participants from over 100 countries wrote "Peace Letters" to denounce Russian invasion of Ukraine as a violation of international law and demanded Russian President Putin to withdraw from Ukrainian territory.

"I commend the hundreds of HWPL volunteers who live and work here in the District of Columbia for their support of Ukraine, and I look forward to working with all of you to promote global peace. Thank you very much." Said Congresswoman Holmes Norton.

HWPL also believes that it is through united hearts and effort that will make achieving a world of peace possible.

During his commemorative speech, HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee of HWPL emphasized, "Peace cannot be achieved alone. If everyone can live together as one, there will be no wars or conflicts. As the saying goes, love your neighbor as yourself, war will disappear only when there is love for each other. Current international law cannot prevent war. Russia, a permanent member of the United Nations, waged a war. The DPCW was introduced to renew the inoperative international law to eliminate war. Now is the time to achieve peace. Just as people learn when they have to create (something), peace must be taught at home and at school to create peace. If people's hearts change, a better world will be created. Let everyone in the global village become messengers of peace."
