THERMOEYE Launches New AI-Powered Thermal Camera ‘TMC EDGE’ for Autonomous Systems

By: Get News
The AI-powered TMC EDGE provides 24/7 visibility in all weather and detects objects with distance estimation up to 150m, with less than 2% error

Thermoeye, a leading company specializing in thermal vision solutions, has announced the upcoming release of thermal EDGE AI camera called TMC EDGE, in March 2025. TMC EDGE is a state-of-the-art thermal camera with AI designed for applications in autonomous driving, robots, drones, and more. It is the world's first thermal camera capable of performing object detection and distance estimation simultaneously.

TMC EDGE provides complete forward visibility 24/7 even in harsh weather (rain, snow, night and fog), which is nearly impossible with regular RGB cameras and LiDAR. It features a resolution of 640x512 (VGA) and 6TOPS AI chip performing object detection and distance estimation up to 150m, with an accuracy of less than 2%. Additionally, the compact design of TMC EDGE is one of its key strengths, with dimensions of less than 2 inches, allowing easy integration into various hardware systems. The standardized bracket facilitates convenient installation, making it simple for users to integrate the device.

Thermoeye is preparing to commercialize the TMC EDGE products for autonomous applications and is discussing joint technology development and cooperation with Tier 1 suppliers of OEM manufacturers.

Thermoeye holds six patents related to thermal imaging and image analysis and has built an extensive dataset of over 500,000 thermal images to enhance its technological capabilities. The company has also secured a total of 1.5 billion KRW in investments, enabling it to concentrate on product development and research.

Thermoeye's thermal imaging technology plays a crucial role in production processes, particularly in the semiconductor and battery industries, where it helps assess thermal uniformity and early defect detection. With the introduction of the TMC EDGE, the company aims to expand its market reach beyond industrial applications into areas such as autonomous driving and robotics, which is expected to significantly increase the company's revenue.

“We are building a safe autonomous environment based on thermal cameras," said Thermoeye CEO Dohwi Kim. "Our goal is not only to commercialize our technology for autonomous applications, but also find opportunities to integrate thermal cameras into current and future markets we serve."
