Rising filmmaker Jay Beckett to direct new indie film on LGBTQ issues

By: Get News
Jay Beckett’s upcoming indie film will talk about LGBTQ issues as well as post-COVID world.

Hollywood, CA – December 03, 2021 – Fresh from his widely acknowledged performance with The Here And Now Theater Company, popular actor and filmmaker Jay Beckett is glad to announce that he will soon be coming up with an indie film in the early quarter of 2022. Directed and written by Jay, the film is going to be a family drama regarding LGBTQ issues and the post-Covid times.

Titled “Say Grace”, the film is set to release in March 2022. The film is produced by Carson Strickland. The shooting of the film will start next week in the city of Hollywood, CA. Madison Jones is the Casting Director and First Assistant Director of the film.

“I am excited to share with you all that I will soon be coming up with my new indie film, ‘Say Grace’. The film deals on LGBTQ issues and post-COVID period- two of the most crucial topics in the current times. A good deal of discussions are going on about LGBTQ issues and more are needed to empower the LGBTQ community to establish its rights in the society. It’s unfortunate that the community had to suffer for long for unfounded misconceptions, and myths and still now has to struggle to establish its identity. As part of the ‘Say Grace’ team, we are hopeful that our upcoming indie film would be able to make some positive contributions to empower the LGBTQ niche”, stated Jay.

“Say Grace” will debut in various film festivals.

“We have plans to take the film to multiple film festivals. We are looking forward to raising awareness about the various issues faced by the LGBTQ community through our upcoming work- so, the more platforms we can take it to, the better.”

Currently settled in Los Angeles, CA, Jay Beckett is a multi-talented artist and performer. Originally from Lima, this fast emerging American-Peruvian actor has made a mark in both films and stage with equal élan. He has always been inclined to performing arts since his childhood and in 2017, he finally decided to take up acting as a full-time career.

“If you ask me, acting as a career was probably on my radar all the way long. I have always loved performing and entertaining others and I had a hunch that my true calling lies in the acting. So, finally, in 2017, I decided to make acting my full-time professional career and since then I have never looked back. I enjoy every aspect of the art, whether I am acting in a film or on stage or for a commercial.”

Some of his notable projects are “A Little Tokyo Story”, “Wonder Women”, “My Mythology”, “Breathing Time”, “Have a Good Day”, “Nasty Bosses”, and so on. Recently in October, he performed in a stage production with The Here and Now Theater Company that was held at Soka University.

Jay decided to learn about filmmaking during the pandemic and has received professional training in film and directing from LA Film School.
