ZEDEDA Shows Rapid Growth in the First Half of 2024 to Solidify Its Position as an Industry Standard for Edge Management and Orchestration

58% increase in edge nodes under management, key executive hires and strategic partnerships highlight strong business momentum

ZEDEDA, the leader in edge management and orchestration, today announced significant business growth and momentum through the first half of 2024, positioning the company for continued expansion in the rapidly evolving edge computing market.

In the first six months of 2024, ZEDEDA increased its number of edge nodes under management by 58%. The number of nodes under management is one of the most direct reflections of an edge computing company’s real-world scale and reach, providing a substantial competitive advantage, increased data insights and better operational efficiency. Many of those nodes belong to the 12 Fortune Global 500 accounts now in production with ZEDEDA, up 20% from the beginning of the year.

“Edge computing has become critical infrastructure for enterprises, alongside cloud and data center deployments,” said Said Ouissal, ZEDEDA’s CEO and founder. “AI is supercharging the uptake of edge computing as companies increasingly look to gain more insights from their data and act upon these insights quickly to drive efficiencies, improve safety and increase competitive advantage.”

With strong traction in a number of industries — including energy, manufacturing, retail, transportation and automotive — ZEDEDA is emerging as the standard for some of the world’s largest companies to launch and scale critical edge initiatives. According to the Gartner Market Guide for Edge Computing, 20% of large enterprises will deploy an edge management and orchestration solution by 2027, compared with fewer than 1% in 2023. Additionally, by 2029, at least 60% of edge computing deployments will use composite AI (predictive and generative AI), compared to less than 5% in 2023.

Latest Funding Includes $72M in Growth Capital

In February, ZEDEDA closed $72 million in growth capital, with the Series C round led by Smith Point Capital, founded by former Salesforce Co-CEO Keith Block. The latest funding enabled ZEDEDA to expand its sales and marketing activities and accelerate research and development. With the most recent round of funding, ZEDEDA has now raised over $127 million in total since its founding.

Strengthening the Board and Executive Team

ZEDEDA has made key additions to its board of directors and executive team, adding proven industry leaders to support the rising demand for its services.

  • Lisa Edwards, an accomplished operations leader, joined the company’s board of directors. Edwards also serves on the boards of Colgate-Palmolive, LogicMonitor and Qualtrics and as Executive Chair of the Diligent Institute, a global think tank focused on governance.
  • Eva Feng, a seasoned product management executive, has held leadership roles at Twilio, Amazon Web Services, Service Now, HPE and several startups. She’ll drive product innovation and expand ZEDEDA’s market presence, including entering new segments and industries and addressing customer use cases.

“I’m looking forward to leveraging AI on the edge to improve our customers’ work efficiency, including simplifying edge infrastructure management through automation,” Feng said. “Edge AI will unlock new use cases and business opportunities across different industries, from oil and gas, which is already leveraging edge AI, to manufacturing, retail and health care.”
  • Nick Chang, a 30-year industry veteran with executive positions at Palo Alto Networks, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Hitachi, was named vice president of customer experience. He'll focus on deploying, adopting, supporting and expanding ZEDEDA's value within its customer base.

“We define customer experience as our ability to ensure customers and partners realize the full value of their investment in ZEDEDA,” Chang said. “We don’t take these partnerships lightly. We aim to be a true collaborator, not just a technology vendor. That’s why we prioritize a white-glove approach, which means exceeding expectations, ensuring timely or early realization of value, and seamlessly supporting the growth and expansion of new ideas and use cases.”

Product Innovation to Simplify Edge Security and Management

In April, ZEDEDA expanded its Edge Application Services with the launch of ZEDEDA Edge Sync, further enhancing its comprehensive edge orchestration platform. ZEDEDA Edge Sync is the first edge solution that enables customers to manage deployments locally and from the cloud, providing the flexibility to move to the cloud from air-gapped environments.

Partnerships, Expansion and Industry Recognition

ZEDEDA continued to strengthen its position in the edge computing ecosystem through a combination of partnerships, company expansion and industry awards.

  • ZEDEDA joined the Linux Foundation’s Margo Project as a steering committee member alongside founding members ABB, Capgemini, Microsoft, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric and Siemens. Margo is a new open-source project focused on creating open standards for interoperability at the edge for industrial automation environments.
  • The company added new marketplace partners, including OpenVPN and Losant, enabling one-click deployment of their solutions through ZEDEDA's marketplace.
  • ZEDEDA was named one of the Bay Area’s Best Places to Work by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal. The company also recently expanded its San Jose headquarters, tripling its office space to accommodate growth.

The strong momentum is expected to continue through the remainder of 2024 as ZEDEDA focuses on regional expansion, strategic partnerships, bringing new capabilities to market and attracting additional talent.
