Range Energy’s RA Platform Now Eligible for $80,000 In California Incentives

The RA platform is the first trailer electrification platform to be eligible for California's Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Incentive Project Program, designed to help fleet owners and operators deploy zero emissions equipment

Range Energy (Range), the hardware company bringing powered trailers to the commercial trucking market, today announced that its 53-foot electric trailer, the RA, is now eligible for point-of-sale incentives up to $80,000/unit through the California Air Resources Board Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Program.

“Acceptance into the CORE program and having Range’s powered trailers included in such an innovative incentive program is a huge milestone for our team, and the commercial trucking industry as a whole,” said Ali Javidan, Founder and CEO of Range. “The trailer is the most ubiquitous piece of hardware in the trucking industry, and we’re thrilled that CARB and the CORE team have recognized the meaningful impact electric powered trailers can have as we collectively work to rapidly reduce the emissions of the commercial trucking sector.”

CORE is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts millions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, improving public health and the environment, and providing meaningful benefits to the most disadvantaged communities. CORE provides a streamlined voucher process by which California fleet owners and operators can receive funding to offset the cost of cleaner off-road equipment as well as develop innovative ways to reduce pollution. Details on the RA voucher incentive are live online in the CORE catalog.

Range is accelerating the electrification of commercial transportation through the development of powered trailers for the heavy duty freight market. Range’s electric-powered trailers hook up to any diesel-powered truck today, providing fleet owners 30-40 percent better fuel efficiency as they aim to meet new regulations and bring down their cost-per-mile. Range’s platform also works as a mobile power unit. Through CORE, a customer can buy Range trailer equipment and receive an $80,000/unit point-of-sale voucher for mobile power applications.

“We’re electrifying a critical piece of the global freight infrastructure that few are talking about right now: the trailer. This is an essential component to trucking’s decarbonization strategy as it can immediately improve truck efficiency, enabling fleet owners to move closer towards their emissions goals, provide offroad mobile power, and expand the utility of electric semis,” continued Javidan. “California leads the nation in setting standards and incentives to decarbonize; their recognition of the role the trailer can play in this effort is no surprise. We’re excited to help set the bar for the future of towing.”
