The roundtable will focus on innovations in food donation stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, including new models for food recovery as well as the existing gaps and opportunities for the industry. In addition, panelists will discuss progress as we approach the one-year anniversary of the passing of the Food Donation Improvement Act and what other solutions we need to consider to accelerate change in the industry.

“The amount of food that enters landfills is staggering, especially when you consider the growing number of people facing food insecurity in the U.S.,” said Ryan Begin, CEO and co-founder, Divert. “Divert is committed to addressing the hunger crisis through our food diversion and donation programs, working closely with our retail customers, food banks, and nonprofits. An important part of that effort is facilitating these critical conversations and bringing people together to tackle how we can further innovate as an industry and feed more people in need.”

The roundtable will feature thought leaders across the food donation and sustainability sectors, including:

- Sara Osborne, Senior Director of Public & Government Affairs, Safeway and Albertsons

- Jaclyn Pack, Director of Food Acquisitions, Central California Food Bank

- Nina Sevilla, Program Advocate, Food Waste & Food Systems, People & Communities Program, National Resources Defense Council

- Jess Parker, Food Recovery Program Manager, Divert
