The Baker Hughes Foundation Contributes $250,000 to Support UNICEF COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

DESCRIPTION:

HOUSTON and LONDON, May 27, 2021 /3BL Media/ – The Baker Hughes Foundation has announced a $250,000 grant to the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in support of its efforts to end the pandemic through equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution and other support for the world’s most vulnerable populations.

UNICEF has been appointed by the Global Vaccine Alliance to help ensure delivery of 2 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses in 2021 to over 180 countries. This is the fastest and largest immunization project ever, and the single largest operation UNICEF has undertaken in its 75-year history. As the world’s largest vaccine purchaser, UNICEF already delivers vaccines to almost half of the world’s children every year, including the hardest to reach areas.

The UNICEF grant is aligned with the Baker Hughes Foundation’s goal of promoting health, safety and wellness in the communities where employees live and work. Through the pandemic, Baker Hughes, our Foundation, and our employees have contributed the equivalent of $1 million in cash and in-kind contributions to COVID-related projects, such as humanitarian support, medical supplies and volunteer hours. Baker Hughes strongly encourages its employees to be vaccinated and is committed to vaccine education and enabling access while continuing to reinforce daily prevention measures.

“Distributing COVID-19 vaccines widely and equitably is a pressing global health concern, and UNICEF has the infrastructure and expertise to make meaningful progress,” said Brian Worrell, president of the Baker Hughes Foundation and CFO of Baker Hughes. “We are proud to be part of this historic effort, and we strongly believe that COVID-19 vaccinations coupled with proactive prevention measures are critical to long-term recovery from the pandemic.”
