DESCRIPTION:

LONDON, December 17, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Clarivate Plc (NYSE:CLVT), a global leader in providing trusted information and insights to accelerate the pace of innovation, has scored 51 in this year’s S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) and as a result is in the 76th percentile of the industry peer group, professional services.

In the inaugural year of participation in the assessment, Clarivate is in the 78th percentile in Governance, in the 76th percentile in Social, and in the 63rd percentile in Environment. Within these areas, Clarivate has scored 100 in several areas, including Board Diversity Policy, IT CyberSecurity Measures and Codes of Conduct, Human Rights commitment, Workforce Breakdown and Trend of Employee Engagement.

Established in 1999, the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) has become the gold standard and basis for numerous Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Indices over the last two decades. Every year, S&P Global invites eligible companies to complete the CSA questionnaire. The responses are then evaluated by S&P and integrated into the rebalancing of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and the S&P ESG Index series.

Clarivate is on a mission to help customers solve some of the world's most complex problems and innovate for a better future by providing actionable information and insights that reduce the time from new ideas to life-changing inventions. Guided by the Board Nominating, Governance and Sustainability committee, Clarivate is taking positive actions to integrate sustainability into everything, in support of and helping to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In 2020, Clarivate became a signatory to the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), the U.K. Stonewall Trans Rights are Human Rights initiative and the CEO Action on Diversity & Inclusion – and chose two colleagues to serve as racial equity fellows. In 2021, Clarivate joined the UN Global Compact, and began participating in both the UN Target Gender Equality program and UN SDG Ambition Accelerator program to further progress its sustainability efforts.  In 2021, Clarivate reported out to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for the first time.  In order to improve its Environmental, Social and Governance performance, Clarivate initiated sustainable workplaces and a workplace transformation strategy, partnering with JLL, a leader in sustainable real estate, as its primary facilities manager to measure and monitor its energy, water, recycling, waste and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Collaboration is essential to fostering a sustainable world. During 2020, Clarivate opened access to COVID-19 information resources, provided free access to BioWorld coronavirus articles, and launched the first of several therapeutically oriented data lakes, the coronavirus, virology and infectious disease (CVID) data lake that brought together comprehensive data assets backed by actionable analytics and expert consultants with deep domain knowledge. In September 2020, Clarivate also launched the MarkMonitor Domains for Good program, developed specifically for nonprofits and other mission-driven, for-good organizations.

“At Clarivate, sustainability isn't just something we do. It's everything we do. We help companies to innovate for a better future while operating with the highest social, environmental and ethics standards,” said Jerre Stead, Executive Chairman and CEO, Clarivate. “We are proud of our score in S&P’s Global CSA in the early days of our sustainability efforts. It is testament to the work we are doing to achieve our ambitious sustainability goals, which include being carbon neutral by 2024 and listed on both the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and the FTSE4 GOOD Index based on our 2023 performance.”

In April 2021, Clarivate published its first Annual Sustainability Report which includes the company’s goals for 2021 that are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
